Basketball Victories

Loreto Bray claimed double victory in the Eastern Region League basketball finals with wins for both the under 16 and under 19 teams. The finals were played out in front of a rapturous full house in Oblate Basketball Hall on Tuesday last.

Bray faced Dominican College, Griffith Avenue in the under 16 final. After a tight opening quarter, Bray found themselves 21-12 behind at half time. A spirited fightback saw Bray narrow the gap to 26-27 at the end of the third quarter. The final quarter saw wonderful passages of offense for Bray and they finished the stronger running out victors on a scoreline of 42-35.

Bray’s under 19 team took to the court for the second final of the day and faced St. Andrew’s College, Booterstown. In what was an end to end opening quarter, Bray led by 14-13. A strong second quarter by St. Andrew’s saw Bray trail by 25 to 34 at half time. The third quarter saw Bray rally and they narrowed the gap to 35-44.

Bray started the stronger in the second half and trailed by just two points with three and a half minutes on the clock. With three quick baskets and a three pointer, Bray took the lead in the final two minutes and held on to secure a 54-51 win.

Under the guidance of coach Cormac Connor, both teams will take part in the All-Ireland last 16 in January.

Remembrance Service

On Tuesday November 21st, we held a beautiful remembrance service in the Concert Hall. A sincere thanks to all the students and staff involved in making this a special occasion.

Austrian School Visit

On November 9th, we welcomed 43 students from Vienna, Austria to our school on a cultural visit where our students demonstrated Irish dance, traditional music and gaelic games. We had the opportunity to learn about Austrian culture, food, sports and heritage,

The day was rounded out by a walking tour of Bray; guided by our Transition Year students. Many thanks to Ms. Kelleher and the TY European studies class for organising this.

Bray Drugs Awareness Art Competition

Congratulations to Pearl Neary, 1st year, who was a finalist in the BDAF annual art competition, aimed at promoting healthy drug free lifestyles for young people in Bray.

Science Week

Well done to all students who participated in events during Science Week. In class experiments as well as competitions, quizzes, cell model making were amongst some of the highlights.



Music Week

Many thanks to all the students who took part in Music Week. The week included a quiz, guess the song, as well as a concert that rounded out the week with all funds raised going to the Unicef Humanitarian Fund for Gaza.

College Awareness Week

College Awareness Week gave students the opportunity to learn about different third level courses as well as different access routes to colleges. Minister for Higher Education, Simon Harris, visited and spoke to the Transition Year students about third level and supports available.



Stand Up Week

Stand Up Week 2023 was rounded out by a visit to school by Arthur Gourounlian, Dancing with the Stars judge, who spoke to the students. The week also saw a variety of events including the ‘Banned Book’ quiz and the creation of a mural.

Soroptmist Public Speaking

Congratulations to Ella Huang, 4th Year, who placed 2nd in the Bray Final of the Soroptimist Public Speaking Competition. Ella has secured a place in the Regional Final which will take place in Wexford after Christmas.

Sofia Isiac, 5th Year, and Linette Espinoza, 6th Year, also competed with distinction.

Gaeilge 24

Gaeilge 24 saw students from 1st Year to 6th Year participated in a fun-filled day to celebrate Irish language and culture.

A busy month of sports has seen our rugby, camogie, gaelic, basketball, soccer, badminton and hockey teams continue their busy league schedules.
