Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA)
The Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA), supported by our LGBTQ+ Support Team, is a safe space for all young people to hang out, make new friends or develop already existing relationships.
GSA also helps organise Stand Up Awareness Week - a Belong To initiative where we celebrate LGBTQ+ identity and stand up to LGBTQ+ phobic bullying or discrimination. This year it runs between 3rd and 7th November. We hope to continue this momentum and hold further school events throughout the academic year.
We meet in the Mary Ward kitchen at lunchtime every Friday. We always welcome new members and are very happy to see new faces!
For more information, talk to: Mr. Smith, Mr. Slee and Ms. E. O’Reilly.
LGBTQ+ Quality Mark
We are currently undergoing the process of completing the LGBTQ+ Quality Mark initiative from Belong To, the national representative for LGBTQ+ young people.
The Quality Mark would be an indicator of what we already know, that we at Loreto Bray are a welcoming and inclusive school community for all, including those who identify under the LGBTQ+ umbrella. This process involves assessing our current practices and putting plans in place for the future to ensure the inclusivity of all individuals, especially young people, in our community.
